Overhead contact line for high-speed AELEC 350

The AELEC-350 overhead contact line system was developed by Electrén and other companies in the sector. The results obtained mean an improvement in the “catenaries” of high-speed rail lines installed in Spain and Europe, whose beginnings and basic aspects it includes, from the experience of taking part in their design, installation and maintenance.

Electrén has invested in its own calculation programs and media. The equipment for manufacturing each of the pieces and structures which make up the system (boxes, models, etc.), the simulators and the other tools needed to develop the project and put it into service, are also owned by the group.

The system's elements are interchangeable with those of the EAC 350 catenary. In addition, the number of elements has been streamlined, as in the case of the insulators, which meet all possible strut, cantilever, anchor and feeder assembly needs with just two types. The result is that costs are kept down, both for the AELEC-350 catenary and for that already installed.

The system fulfills interoperability requirements for high-speed rail line traffic, in accordance with European Directive 96/48 EC, part of the T.S.I. (Technical Specification for Interoperability for the Energy Subsystem).

Subsystems for overhead contact lines, switch heating, tunnel lighting and energy supply to other subsystems (signaling and telecommunications), make up an integrated system which is compact and sound, and where special attention has been paid to interfaces.
