ELECTRÉN is the only Spanish corporation fully dedicated to the railway drive, having highly specialized professionals, who are able to develop new working methods, as well as, new equipments and tools.
The I+R+D department constantly looks into the enhancement in the production processes, and gives engineering solutions to make the systems and equipments evolve towards the excellence.
ELECTRÉN, S.A. has two laying wire and catenaries renovation trains. These vehicles allow renovating a whole section during a night power cut, collecting the holder and the eroded wire and laying the new one to its final working voltage. This way, the achievements are improved four times with regard to the traditional method; but the most important thing is that, provisional situations are avoided, so the risk of industrial accidents and incidences in the circulation services are minimized.
ELECTRÉN, in collaboration with other corporations and entities in the sector, has developed the technology of the AE350 high speed railway electrification system. The main advantages of this catenary are the next: easy regulation, interchangeable pieces with other installed systems, simple maintenance management, reliability, optimum interaction between the catenary and the pantograph, and the fulfillment of the European interoperability norm.
ELECTRÉN has been pioneer in the design and construction of mobile substations in container for heavy railways.
ELECTRÉN has developed the SENCO safety system for drive substations and garages.
ELECTRÉN has designed and integrated the MAS energy remote control system for EN 61-850-101 and 104 railways.
Nowadays, the I+R+D department is working in the development of bitension 600/1.500 Vcc mobile drive substations, for street cars and trams.
ELECTRÉN is also working in the development of the ART10 control system for High Speed 1 x 25 kV/ 2 x 25 kV substations
ELECTRÉN, in collaboration with the UNIVERSIDAD CARLOS III in Madrid, has created the Electrén professorship for the research of the platforms of electric sizing for railways.
