ELECTREN, S.A., ha completado la energización de la Fase I de la SET para la alimentación de la planta industrial de semiconductores que DIAMOND FOUNDRY EUROPE ha construido en el término municipal de Trujillo.
En la gestión de la subestación, ELECTREN ha implantado el Sistema Integrado de Control y Protección propio, que incluye la gestión de protecciones de Línea de A.T., transformadores de potencia y líneas de distribución en 20kV.
En esta primera fase, la potencia instalada es de 30 MW ( dos transformadores de 30MW en paralelo) y para la Fase II está previsto ampliar hasta una potencia de 70MW en 132KV.
ELECTREN, S.A., has completed the energization of Phase I of the SET for the supply of the semiconductor industrial plant that DIAMOND FOUNDRY EUROPE has built in the municipality of Trujillo.
In the management of the substation, ELECTREN has implemented its own Integrated Control and Protection System, which includes the management of HV line protections, power transformers and 20kV distribution lines.
In this first phase, the installed power is 30 MW (two 30MW transformers in parallel) and for Phase II it is planned to expand to a power of 70MW in 132KV.

The Las Rozas Data Center is set up as a large Data Logistics Center, located in a new building at Paseo del Tren Talgo, 10, 28290 Las Rozas, Madrid.
The installations include the supply and connection of 2 2,500 KVA Generators, the supply and installation of 10 main electrical panels and 36 secondary electrical panels, wiring, configurations, testing, and commissioning.
This project represents an improvement in the infrastructure belonging to the Ministry of Finance.

Electren S.A. has successfully designed, implemented and commissioned in the UK the Protection, Control, SCADA and telecommunication systems for the power substations included in its framework agreement with Network Rail.
As part of the CP5 works, the framework contract supports the electrification of the railway in the Northern Hub and Anglia routes, improving mobility and sustainability in the Greater Manchester and northeast London regions.

ELECTREN has recently acquired 2 new SVI branded dresinas. The APV 300G SPAZIO 8 model, refurbished by VEFCA in Spain, includes Spazio 8 derrick with rotating arm, FASSI F175 crane, and digital pantograph with tele-camera and in-cab monitor for dynamic auscultation of the catenary. It also has 2 rotating driving cabs, with capacity for 6 persons. The crane-basket set is homologated under the EN-280 standard, which makes it possible to work safely in places with difficult access.
The vehicles are manufactured under ETH/ADIF standards and can travel on both international and Iberian gauge at 90 km/h.
With this new acquisition, ELECTREN expands its fleet of machinery, making it the most advanced in the railway electrification sector in terms of capacity, performance, technological innovations and internationalization. In addition to all the Spanish railway networks, ELECTREN has machines approved to run and operate on lines managed by PKP (Poland), SNCF (France), ONCF (Morocco) and Network Rail (United Kingdom).

We are proud to announce that Electren FR has renewed their ISO 9001 certification; this has been issued under the recently published standard which was revised last year. AFNOR (French member of the ISO organization) granted the 8th certificate ISO 9001:2015 in France to Electren’s Parisian branch. Furthermore, this was granted even before AENOR (the Spanish member of the ISO organization) obtained the required qualification to issue the mentioned certificates.
By analysing the critical and strategic points that the organization will face in the medium and long term, the HSQE system has successfully incorporated a business risk management that will work towards the business’s stability, just like the 5th version of the standard states on their new high level structure.

The BcnRail show was held in Barcelona last November and now, a month after the event, is a good moment to look back and take stock. This year’s theme was sustainable mobility and access to foreign markets, so we were particularly excited about presenting Motracs, our modular railway traction solution.
The 4th BcnRail show was held alongside the SMART CITY show, both featuring the theme of the future of cities. Visitors at both fairs, plus guests specially invited by Electrén to see this ingenious development for themselves, were able to find out more about the benefits of the Motracs solution, which was first shown at IFEMA on 24 April 2013. The display allowed them to go inside a real installation, have a look round and examine the system’s components with the help of Electrén experts, and see how the modular design concept can be applied to create novel, flexible and effective solutions for railway traction. This new approach replaces the traditional ad hoc construction of substations by putting standardised systems in place.
This fact alone revolutionises railway line power supplies, as well as having huge quality and environmental benefits. Large scale production of finished units which can be installed at the final location leads to synergies of execution time, execution quality and uniform finish that would be unimaginable otherwise. Installation can be completed much faster because most partial and integration tests have already been carried out at the factory and there is no need to repeat them at the final destination.
There are also major environmental benefits, as the impact at the final destination is considerably lessened, with a substantial reduction in the CO₂ footprint. Because the finished units are transported to their final destination with all their components, transport can be rationalised, leading to much greater fuel efficiency. The waste management procedures used in our production process mean we can guarantee that waste management is centralised, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and spillages and even allowing us to reuse some manufacturing waste and by-products.
The modular substation presented in Barcelona was specially developed for High Speed railways, but it is clear that the future of these substations also lies in their potential for expanding, renovating, replacing and maintaining substations on conventional direct current (DC) lines. The modular designs can be installed in spaces which are small or where access is difficult, making their use possible for remodelling traction systems currently in use for any kind of railway network, whether high-speed, conventional or suburban and even for tramway lines.
BcnRail has enabled us to showcase the future of railway power supplies, but the possibilities go much further than the solution we presented in Barcelona. Motracs has a great future ahead of it and our engineers are already working on specific adaptations to meet the needs of both our current and our potential clients in all kinds of operational environments.

ELECTRÉN has successfully concluded its participation in the work in Traction and Remote Control Substations of the new High Speed service from Madrid to Alicante, specifically in the Albacete-Valencia-Alicante section. Together with ALSTOM and CYMI, ELECTRÉN carried out traction installations along the entire distance in a period of approximately two and a half years.
The Energy Division of ADIF have congratulated us for completing the work on time, which required a final joint effort as with any project of this magnitude. The inauguration of the line was a success and that is what really makes up happy at ELECTRÉN.
The facilities have a service tension of 400 kV to supply the electrified line of 2×25 kV and are in conformance with the climate conditions of the line, with high wind, temperature and humidity in some sections. This includes the substations of Campanario and Sax, as well as 11 intermediate centers of auto-transformation and 2 final centers of auto-transformation.
The new service offers multiple timetables with support on weekends and stops in Cuenca, Albacete and Villena. It will allow passengers to reach the Costa Blanca in less than two and a half hours, which both tourists and entrepreneurs will be able to take advantage of.

Electrén has been awarded the contract for the renovation of the catenary of the Bárcena – Torrelavega section of the Palencia – Santander line. This route of over 20 km completes the railway electrification infrastructure improvements in the section between Mataporquera and Santander pertaining to said line. Our company worked on the first phase of renewal and improvement of the line, completing the Torrelavega-Santander section and renewing the stations of Venta de Baños and Palencia.
The accumulated experience, together with the availability of high performance catenary renewal trains, allow the work to take place with an intensive nocturnal schedule, without affecting normal movement of trains, minimizing the expense of improving the facilities.
A certain degree of difficulty is expected in determined railway sections and tunnels due to the Cantabrian terrain, where some areas close to the Besaya river have complex access points. Electrén has, on numerous occasions, demonstrated its ability to complete work as complex as this, such as the Guadarrama tunnel on the High Speed Line Madrid-Segovia.

On April 24th in the IFEMA exhibition site in Madrid, ELECTREN presented its Modular solution for “Motracs” Traction Substations. The solution is orientated towards traction for High Speed, although the application covers the entire scope of railway traction.
Based on Modules that structurally comply with the international standards for transport interoperability and the CSC convention, free transport of merchandise by road, rail and sea transport is guaranteed. The structural assembly complies with the dimensions of the High Cube standard of 40” and has been specially designed to protect, store and guarantee the stability of the equipment, which includes all of the electrical groups necessary for a Traction substation and the ART10 control system for management of the system and integration of protection.
The design has taken into account the reliability of the system and the test protocols of the Integrated Distributed Control System, the protection and the integration of both, both within the Substation and in its relation with collateral substations. This test and simulation platform has been baptized as “Simutracs” (Simulator Traction Substation). It includes all controlled critical equipment in a Substation Type 2×25 kVac and its area of influence. Also, with the objective of fully adjusting to the reality of the equipment installed in a substation, there has been an in-depth study of the operation of switches and isolators, and the operation of this “virtual” equipment has been adapted to the sequences and response times of the “real” equipment. All of the above has been introduced to a PLC with high density input/output, which is electrically connected to the inputs/outputs of the various PLCs of the electrical controller blocks in the substation.
The simulator can demonstrate and fully test the complete operation of the control subsystem, generating test environments for situations that are difficult to reproduce in a real substation. This facilitates its launch by field personnel and speeds up the test times before the definitive operation launch. On the other hand, it generates added value by permitting training courses for future maintenance personnel stationed at the facilities during operation time.
In addition, the modularity makes adaptation of the system to any railway facility more flexible, increasing possibilities of functionality and adaptability. With respect to sizing and planning, it permits gradual and progressive expansions (or reductions) by adding or removing modules from an installed modular substation or new facilities, permitting relocation due to operational needs and movement of part or all of the assembly for complex repairs and integral maintenance. There are configurations from 2 to 8 modules.
Finally, we would like to add other advantages that consist of the manufacture of the modules in a controlled environment, which reduces the quantity of waste generated and allows for greater management of the same, improves safety with regards to accidents during manufacture and achieves substantial savings with regards to the multiple movements of people and materials to remote installation sites.

Each night our employees will have to place up to 100 grounding protections in order to facilitate the work of Meccoli relocating the line, which will be a challenge requiring agility and coordination. This is a very frequently used Suite Rapide line with area lines of 1500 V in AC and 2×25 kV in DC. After the initial work at the beginning of the year on the Miramás or L’Estaque Line, specifically between La Valdue and Martigues (near Marseilles), work now continues on the Lyon-Perraché section, via Grenoble.
The work is carried out as part of an agreement of the French construction company MECCOLI, one of the most important contract winners for work on the railway infrastructure in France and the main contractor for maintenance work and track renewal.

Electrén will carry out all on-site engineering and civil works, together with catenary deployment. This is a powerful addition to Electrén’s work portfolio for SNCF, France’s public railway administration; previous works stretch back in time to 2005, first year of Electrén’s presence in France.
Work consists on the 25 kV electrification of two single track sections of a length of 12 km total. Lead time is 5 months, and works amount a total sum of 1.6 million euros.

This standard has been adopted by ELECTREN to contribute to its continual improvement efforts concerning Health and Safety management, and has been integrated into the existing Quality Control and Environmental Management system as a means to better define the processes that affect personnel safety in daily on-site operations.
The rail industry is one of the most demanding in terms of operational safety due to its severe potential risks and the simultaneous need to coordinate swift field operations involving personnel from several companies. Among ELECTREN strengths feature its ability to safely coordinate work shared between different companies, together with the high quality of theoretical and practical safety training for its employees.
